Situated at the heart of the South Pacific Ocean, the Melanesian country Fiji is comprised of 333 picturesque islands which are home to the rarest natural resources of Tropical origin. Most of these islands were formed through volcanic activities that started some 150 years ago. Seismic activities are said to persist in some of these islands even today. The country has been inhabited since second millennium BC and it is believed that the Melanesians and Polynesians were the first to create a society here after the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman and a team of English navigators including James Cook had discovered it in 1643. The independent nation faced two coups in its history. Today it has grown into a beautiful tourism hotspot where leisure travelers as well as business people throng in large numbers from all parts of world.
